Step 1.1: Sign Up for NotebookLMTo begin, head to NotebookLM by Google. Sign up for free using your Gmail account. Once inside, you’ll see a user-friendly interface designed to help you organize notes, research, and of course—create podcasts.
Step 1.2: Select “New Notebook”After signing up, select the “New Notebook” option. This is where the magic happens. The tool allows you to generate podcasts using a variety of sources, from Google Docs to YouTube videos. Let’s dive into each source and see how it works.
Step 2: Creating a Podcast with Google Docs
Step 2.1: Upload a Google DocDid you know you can create a podcast from a simple Google Doc? Here’s how I did it. I took an excerpt from my book, NRJL Titled "Tips To Loving Yourself Unconditionally", and saved it as a Google Doc.
Step 2.2: Use NotebookLM to Generate a Podcast
On NotebookLM, select Google Docs as your source.
You’ll be taken to your Google Drive, where you can choose the document you want to use.
After selecting the document, click Insert, and then choose “Deep Dive Conversation Two hosts (English only)” under the options.
Hit Generate, and voilà! In just a few minutes, you’ll have a fully generated podcast ready to go.

Step 3: Creating a Podcast from PowerPoint or Google Slides
Step 3.1: Upload Your PresentationGot a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation? You can easily convert it into a podcast. I had several presentations from past speaking engagements that I converted into Google Slides and used as a source in NotebookLM.
Step 3.2: Generate the PodcastJust like with Google Docs, you’ll:
Upload the slides to Google Drive.
Select Google Slides in NotebookLM.
Hit Insert and then Generate.

Step 4: Turning YouTube Videos into Podcasts
This is where things get really exciting. NotebookLM allows you to transform YouTube videos into podcasts with just one click.
Step 4.1: Copy and Paste a YouTube LinkI tested this feature by using the link to one of my own YouTube videos titled Quit Your Job in 90 Days and Enjoy More Time with Your Family.
Simply copy the link, paste it into NotebookLM, and hit Generate.
In a matter of minutes, you’ll have an audio version of the video that’s perfect for podcast platforms.

Step 5: Creating Podcasts Using ChatGPT
Step 5.1: Use ChatGPT to Generate Podcast TopicsNot sure what to talk about? ChatGPT can help you generate engaging podcast ideas. I used this prompt to get started:
"Give me funny topic ideas for my Podcast that will keep listeners engaged, laughing, and on the edge of their seat. I will use Google NotebookLM AI tool to create this podcast so describe it adequately."
I chose the topic: “The Weirdest Excuses for Being Late” and pasted the text into NotebookLM to create the podcast.
